What clinical and medical staff do you have onsite?

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions and provide meals?

Absolutely. We provide a balanced, high-protein nutritional lunch and healthy snacks daily. Our nutritional program is entirely managed to accommodate specialized dietary needs, supporting overall metabolic health and individual restrictions.

Who will care for my loved one?
Your loved one will be in good hands. The center has at least one staff member for every five participants. NSC’s team includes a Licensed Physical Therapist, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Certified Caregiving Consultant as well as other staff members and caring volunteers.
Does Naperville Senior Center accept people with Alzheimer’s and dementia?

Naperville Senior Center will accept Members with mild to moderate cognitive challenges, that includes dementia or advanced Alzheimer’s disease.

We provide care for people who require minimal to moderate assistance.  Many of our expert care providing staff members are certified in dementia care or are in the process of getting certified.  70% of our members display mild to mid level symptoms related to Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Can a participant who uses a walker or a wheelchair attend Naperville Senior Center?
Yes, Naperville Senior Center is 100% accessible / ADA compliant.
When is the Senior Center open?

Naperville Senior Center is open Monday through Friday 7:30 am, to 5:30 pm (closed Saturday and Sunday).

The Senior Center will be closed in observance of the following holidays. The specific date for the Center closure is subject to the day of the week upon which the holiday falls:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Black Friday (Day After Thanksgiving)
  • Christmas Eve Day (Close early: 7:30 am to 2:00 pm)
  • Christmas Day
Is there a cost to attend the Naperville Senior Center?*

Naperville Senior Center pricing*: Full day rate is only $155. (That’s ONLY $15.5/hour!)

    • Compared to Home Health costs of up to $40 (or more) an hour and NSC is truly a great value.
  • Food and beverage is included in this fee for all members: hot noon-time 3-course meal and healthy snacks throughout the day.
  • Other fees:
    • Shower/shampoo is $30.
    • Haircut/shampoo by appointment with outside contractor for about $35 + tip.
    • Hygienist weekly check up is on Mondays around 11:40am for $25.
    • Late pick-up fee is $30 for each portion of 10 minutes late.
  • A minimum of two days per week and advance payment are required.

Who is eligible to attend?
  • Adults with cognitive or physical challenges who need a little help.
  • Adults unable to stay home alone.
  • Adults unable to drive who desire socialization.
  • Adults who may require supervision during the day.
  • Participants must be able to transfer with the assistance of no more than one person, and be able to feed themselves
What kind of health care do you provide?
Along with our Registered Physical Therapist, Naperville Senior Center staff includes Registered Nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree who oversees medication administration and monitors the participants’ health status on an ongoing basis. The nurse coordinates care with the family and other service providers and serves as a resource to family caregivers. Our Certified Nursing Assistants assist Members with activities of daily living such as toileting, incontinence care, ambulation, transferring, showering, etc…
Is the NSC staff trained in CPR?
Yes, all NSC professional staff are certified in CPR, and many have completed training in emergency first aid as well as the use of AED’s. Our facility is equipped with an AED which is registered with the Naperville Fire Department.
What types of activities are usually offered at adult day programs?

Naperville Senior Center provides fulfilling activities including exercise, memory therapy, music, art, health, nutrition, recreation, craft projects etc.,.

If I want to go to the center, do I need to commit to go every day?
People attending Naperville Senior Center may attend as frequently as they want. We have a minimum requirement of attending two days per week. NSC anticipates about half of our participants to attend all day, five days a week.
My father often naps, is that okay in the program?
Often times people need rest periods as they age. Naperville Senior Center services include a ‘quiet room’ with a couch and several Lazy Boy reclining chairs. (We have found our Members can fall asleep for a short nap in any chair they are currently using.)
Who will help my mother with personal issues, such as toileting?
Naperville Senior Center’s experienced staff will cue, and if needed, assist your mom with walking, transfers, clothing management and hygiene in the bathroom. It is important to communicate all of your loved one’s needs to the admissions person, including use of garment protection, so we are prepared to meet those needs at the Center.
Is this just babysitting?
No, the activities are goal-oriented to encourage learning, participation and maximization of existing skills. Each individual is monitored to ensure that he or she is included and enjoying each activity. New participants soon begin to feel a sense of purpose and belonging and look forward to the next time they all meet.

Remember, our professional staff includes a Physical Therapist, Certified Nursing Assistants and Registered Nurses. Become a member now; when we have a waiting list, our rates are sure to increase.

Does the center have an emergency policy?
Naperville Senior Center requires families to sign a document that allows the center to call 911 in an emergency. Additional documents may be required. Our emergency policies include:

  • Fire
  • Earthquake
  • Severe weather emergencies
  • 911
  • AEDs, CPR and first aid training

We have an emergency procedure in place if our facility must be evacuated.

Is transportation provided?

Transportation will be provided if needed and available to your area for an additional modest fee. Transportation Members will need to be able to get into a passenger crossover vehicle with minimal assist. (Wheelchairs can be stored in the back and transported to the Center.)

We also have Members using public transport (Ride DuPage) as well as a private transporter (Golden Circle of Friends).

Naperville Senior Center has two vehicles for use on field trips.
