About Naperville Senior Center
Caregiver Respite, Memory Therapy, Socialization, Physical & Occupational TherapySince 2014, families have stopped carrying it alone.
Caring for a parent or spouse with memory loss is not a task you finish. It follows you into the workday, into the night, into every phone call you can’t take. Most families we meet have been holding it together for months before they call us.
Naperville Senior Center is where that weight gets shared. We are a memory care and active adult day community — a place your loved one comes in the morning and leaves in the afternoon, having spent the day with a nurse watching over them, a care team who knows their name, and a room full of people their own age.
They come home to their own bed every night. You get your workday, and your evening, back.
What we actually do
We are not a nursing home, and we are not a drop-in social club. We sit in between — clinical oversight paired with a full day of real engagement.
Clinical support, every day
- A Registered Nurse on site all day, every day we are open
- Medication administration and tracking, including complex schedules
- Daily vitals monitoring, with any change reported back to your family
- Certified Nursing Assistant support for walking, transfers, toileting and hygiene
- Post-hospital recovery support
- Physical and occupational therapy available on site through a licensed partner practice
A full day of living, every day
- Memory-focused programming built for dementia, not adapted to it
- Seated exercise, stretching, walking, and NuStep recumbent trainers
- Art, music, games, karaoke, pet visits, and a calmer structured block in the late afternoon
- Three meals — continental breakfast, a hot noon entrée served on real plates, and snacks throughout the day
- Hydration built into the daily schedule, not left to chance
Every day is different. That turns out to matter more than any single activity we offer.
Who we care for
We serve adults living with memory loss, cognitive change, or physical limitation — including Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease, stroke recovery, and general frailty.
Members come to us from more than nineteen communities across Chicago’s western suburbs: Naperville, Aurora, Lisle, Oswego, Lombard, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Bolingbrook, Plainfield, Warrenville, Winfield, Wheaton, Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Shorewood, Romeoville, West Chicago, Batavia, St. Charles, and Joliet.
We sit at Naper Boulevard and Ogden Avenue, on the Lisle–Naperville border — an easy stop on the way to work and on the way home.
Our team
Executive Director: Sheela Jaiswal
Registered Nurses: Nida, RN · Katarzyna, RN
Certified Nursing Assistants: Natalie, Ana, Rita, Jack, Jessica, Karina, Olivia
Volunteers: Duke, Nancy, and Dick
Every member of our professional staff holds current CPR and First Aid certification. We staff at one team member for every four members — closer supervision than most adult day programs, and the reason we are able to welcome members other centers turn away.
We serve up to forty members per day, which keeps the room full enough to be social and small enough that everyone is known.
How often members attend
Most of our members are here three to five days a week, and about a third come all five. The minimum is two days, and the days are flexible week to week — if your schedule shifts, ours shifts with you.
What it costs, plainly
At roughly $15.50 an hour, two days with us costs less than a single day of in-home care at the going rate of about $35 an hour. That figure covers everything: the nurse, the CNAs, therapy, memory programming, and three meals.
An in-home caregiver brings one person into your house. Here, your loved one has a nurse, a care team, a therapy room, a dining room, and a room full of neighbors who know their name.
